Move your phone number to a new provider

This is called number porting. The new provider does most of the work.

Steps

1. Find a recent bill from your current provider showing the account number and the numbers to move.
2. Ask the new provider to port the numbers, and sign the authority form they send.
3. Agree a cutover date and have the new system ready to take calls beforehand.
4. Don't cancel your old service until the port is finished, or you could lose the number.
